I wrote "As I Lay Dreaming" after getting drunk on Dante's poetry while summering in Italy. It was recorded in a legendary acoustic recording studio in the South of France.

I hope you enjoy this completely out-of-time, sunny song -- released exclusively to you, and for the first time!

as i lay dreaming, deep in the deepness of night
dreaming, dreaming
flowers grew out of my eyes

hot sun, cool night, singing a song in disguise
reverse the moonlight
throw it back up to the skies

suddenly blazing, right there before my eyes
was a shape amazing
silver wings spread wide

(silent star, secret star, burning through the night)

singing, singing, flying all over my house
as i lay dreaming
flowers fell out of her mouth

heavenly night, heavenly light
flowing so wild all through this night
radiant screen, life is a dream
life is a silver scream

when evening gardens sing of the sweetness divine
singing, teaching
the birds are all speaking in rhyme

(silent star, secret star, burning through the night
fiery star, living star, hiding out in plain sight tonight)

then darkness was broken, and flowers fell out of the sky
broken wide open
and we're drinking the nectar of night

heavenly light, hold me so tight, hold me so close, all through the night
all through the scene, life is a scream, life is a silver dream

as i lay dreaming, singing a song in disguise
dreaming, dreaming
flowers grew out of my eyes
